The Worshipful Company of Poulters

The Poulters’ Company is one of the oldest Livery Companies of the City of London. Although venerable in age, it prides itself in being a progressive and friendly organisation with an emphasis on philanthropy and fellowship.

Strong links with the poultry industry remain, but it has long drawn its membership from very many different walks of life, making for an eclectic and stimulating group of sociable people, who together enjoy the rich traditions of the City of London whilst simultaneously striving to ensure that Livery life remains relevant and a continuing force for good in a rapidly evolving wider world.

As one of the seven Livery Companies forming the Livery Food Group, there is a particular focus on the food & drink sector, most evident in the Company’s participation in the annual City Food & Drink Lecture. Through its three associated charities, the Poulters’ Company supports a wide variety of good causes, including: education; the relief of poverty; and scientific research to further welfare in the poultry industry.

Most social events are centred around Armourers’ Hall (where the Company has lodged its treasures and held its Court meetings since just after the Second World War), although other historic City Livery venues are also used in the course of the Poulters’ year (dining in recent times at Wax Chandlers’ Hall, Apothecaries’ Hall, Saddlers’ Hall, Vinters’ Hall, Drapers’ Hall and Watermen’s Hall to name but a few).
